Simple Wishes, Fulfilled Promises
July 26, 2008 by alfonsoveck
In those days of wooing, I may have been worse than a mediocre lover for her. I don’t usually give what she expects, what I know anybody else can give. While some of the things I gave her tendered a moment’s worth, others would take years to elucidate how much they mean more than everything she wished for a long time ago. . .

Did she became your wife?
If not, beware!
oh!!!breathtakingly beautiful!!
“flowers will wither, chocolates will melt, few dates shall be forgotten and empty promises wont stand to test.
but feeling so pure and tender
shall be our guiding light
it will keep us forever binded
in life and death never be apart….”
you inspire me…looked what you did!!thoughts popped out of my head guided by your words(though it doesn’t come close to second or third rate..ha!ha!ha!) .your work truly is inspiring!!!
if i may return the compliment…”from a poet who loved and loves truly”
Hmmm I wish I can describe you the emotion and the excitement when we get flowers or chocolates from a boyfriend or a husband. Same as other ways of expressing your commitment and love, those little things will never be left unnoticed. It’s never too late to send flowers, if she really likes it!
oh to love and be loved dearly! i know of no other pleasure or force in life that surpasses this.
Isang napaka-artistikong paglalarawn ng wagas at tunay na pag-ibig.
Napakapalad ng babaeng hinahandugan ng damdaming ito.
wooing someone is never ending. when a man truly loves a woman, he will court her until he dies or until she dies, whichever comes first…because if a man stops courting the woman he loves, it only means one thing: he doesn’t love her anymore.
Ha ha ha! Manoy Doro, we’re happily ‘having our lifelong date’ almost seventeen years now. I suppose there’s no need for me to beware now because I’ve already “FULFILLED [my] PROMISES” by giving her the ‘seasons’ (all the time a wife deserves from a husband.) And like the ‘Moon’, she radiantly reflects my love for her to our ‘budding Stars’, our kids.
Eng, that’s what you become when you also listen intently to the ‘music your heart sings’. It does make a difference when we sing in tune with the melody our heart sings.
You’re right Betchay! Although I am contending for matters I deem more enduring, ‘little things’ are endearing to my wife too. I’m sure she also knows that ‘emotion and excitement’ you get . . . Beyond that, however, the poem discloses that there are also seemingly insignificant incidents in our lives as a couple that when taken into consideration would mean more than her ‘SIMPLE WISHES’ of long ago, e.g. the flowers, chocolates, etc., which she never received from me until we got married.
True Cherie! And to think, pain and suffering endured for someone you love becomes a pleasure too. Indeed a force none can diminish and no one can add to.
Napakapalad din po ng taong may mahahandugan ng tunay at wagas na pag-ibig kaibigang Flor.
Precisely, friend ‘iwin! In fact, once you become her ‘best man’, it now transcends beyond wooing. What better way in your capacity and at the moment you certainly know that you are worthy, to continuously bestow what she deserves, even more than what she expected especially at instances she less expects.
Ephesians 5:31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”
ahw… im in love!!! heheheh… =)

Hi Alf, what a beautiful piece, and a priceless one too! Long after the flowers have wilted and the chocolates consumed, this piece will be here –a testament of everything that she is to you. A reminder of simple wishes and promises fulfilled. Thank you for sharing such an inspiring piece! Kudos to you!
If this piece has inspired and touched someone’s heart, then i did not write it in vain. You’re welcome Teacher Tes.
Hi Alf, I am so glad to get a message from my email that you updated your blog, for otherwise, I may continue to miss the wonders of your thoughts. Your poems are amazing, it touches the heart. A poem like that dedicated to your wife and given to her would surely tingle all her senses, am sure more than the chocolates and roses she would receive. If it were me at the receiving end, I would cry from happiness, being deeply touched. For the words in your poems express the depth of your everlasting love to her.
it is indeed an expression of my love till death for her, Elizabeth.
one’s thoughts does become magical as the twilight time and its wonders as beautiful as a lovely sunset when inspired by a love one.
